I recently got a comment from an Anon on Watchsurvival questioning if Starbound should be included on the survival games list or not. As I've not personally played this game, it would be great if I could get some feedback from the community. Is Starbound survival or not? What is your thoughts? Below is the Anon's comment. Feel free to add your own opinions here.
"Starbound should be taken off the list. It does NOT meet the criteria in any way. The food-system is so bad it should be removed from the game, the food supply is infinite and the easiest thing to get in abundance. The death penalty is of no consequence, provided you are not an idiot running around with 50K pixels on you and even then its not a very big deal loosing 25K." -Anon

What the hell?, Just becouse one guy is not satisfied with food system dosen't mean it should be taken down. It has food system and game is about survival (And it's awesome btw). If that is why starbound should be taken down, the lot of other games should be taken down too. List would finally be very small after that.

I thought it was list of survival games and if that means the list will be small, so be it. If games should be on the list just for the size of the lists sake then the whole point of the list is pointless, we can just as well check Metacritics list of games with scores and all. If Starbound is about survival, so is X-com: Enemy unknown, Battlefield, LEGO: Marvel super heroes and every other game that have the feature of "dying". For a game to be called "survival", should you not at least be able to DIE? But sure, if you want a list of just games, fine by me, I'm just a guest here. This sites name led me to think it was a site about survival games like Unrealworld, Don't starve, Neoscavanger and this got me interested.. but I was apparently wrong. Maybe you should rename the site to avoid future misunderstandings.. how about "Watchallgames", "alargelistofgames" "Watchgamespeoplethinkshouldbeonalist"? Really good initiative to make this list, but unfortunately you lost the purpose somewhere along the way. Excuse me for rocking the boat.. See ya.

New upcoming patch brings in permadeath and drop-everything-on-death gamemodes. I don't see how that dosen't fit on list. If you want be so specific and detailed about the survival games list, then maybe you should find another list or perhaps make your own. Games are different and survival game genre is a wide subject, would be pointless making different page for every detail.

I'm not going to remove a game simply because a single person disagrees. That is why I made this thread. Defining a game's genre has become harder and harder over the years as various games have came out and started combining more and more genre types. This is why I state on the survival list page that SOME requirements need to be there in order for the game to be considered survival but not ALL of the requirements. Death is indeed a really important factor for this genre though. I will pick up the game soon and make my own assessment.
Also I have never added just random games to Watchsurvival's list. I do NOT try to "buff" up my list of games by listing just everything. I really dont' care if Watchsurvival's list has 1 game or 399 games on it. All I care is that they are indeed survival games. Given that, I cannot assure you that I have time to personally buy and try out every single game. So a lot of the times I do a little research and try to make my own opinion on whether or not they are survival games based on the research I find and you guys and girls. I may get it wrong from time to time but I am only human, I can make mistakes.
